Abstract

A perturbation method is proposed for obtaining the excited orbitals of the ground-state Hartree-Fock operator, assuming the ground-state orbitals to be known. The entire Coulomb and exchange operator is treated as a perturbation, and the model Hamiltonian is hydrogenic. The perturbation technique was tested using the ground-state orbitals of neutral helium. (R.E.U.)
