Abstract

Skin, muscle, and internal organs are composed of soft tissues. Mechanics of soft tissues therefore includes mechanics of all organs, and thus covers a vast area. Advances in soft tissue mechanics have been made mainly in association with detailed investigations of organ physiology. Thus soft-tissue mechanics is not an abstract subject but is one of real life, concerned with explaining how living being works.
