Abstract
In the recent years process control in plants for power generation, in chemical plants and other similar ones has been subject to a lot of influences. This paper deals with the point of view and experience we have made in ABB Power Plant Automation together with our customers. It will presents the ongoing elaboration of international standards, the major influence in the application of personal computers based on Windows and will focus on one decade of visualizations for complex dynamic processes, one of the most demanding fields in the area of developing better operatorprocess interfaces. It describes the comprehensive work done by guiding and integrating advanced university research in the application domain of power plant supervisory control (S&C). The results are put into perspective of many activities in this field.
