Abstract

In the time of crisis transformations, Ukraine faces the challenges of elaboration its own strategy for the development of higher education institutions. Introduction of multilingualism practices in educational, research and administrative processes is among them and bilingualization of higher education institutions is one of the models that can ensure adaptation to such changes. The research aims to generalize practices of bilingualization of higher education institutions in Europe, Asia and South America, discuss their advantages and challenges, and outline the perspectives for the introduction of bilingual education in Ukraine in order to strengthenEuropean integration processes. In the context of the perspectives of implementing foreign experience of bilingualism at universities in Ukraine, it is proposed to develop relevant official language policies, to recognize the specific role of English as a lingua franca in scientific research, gradually increase the number ofEnglish-taught courses in universities, expand the geography of partners in joint scientific research and educational programs, continuously improve language qualifications of teachers and staff, ensure the translation of internal documentation, as well as the publication of summaries of scientific research and dissertations in English.
