Abstract

Though attractive because of their nonsystemicaction, use of the bile acid sequestrants cholestyra-mine and colestipol is limited in part by their poortolerability. Specifically, gastrointestinal side effects,including constipation, indigestion, cramping, bloat-ing, and flatulence, have restricted the use of bileacid sequestrants.
