Abstract

Multiferroics has drawn significant scientific interest because of its applications in various domains such as spintronics, data storage, and electrically adjustable memory devices. These highly advanced multifunctional materials exhibit ferroic orders like ferroelectricity and ferromagnetism in a single material. The coexistence of many ferroic orders in multiferroics results in novel physical phenomena, which paves the way to the development of new advanced multifunctional devices. This condensed review discusses historical context, multiferroic basics, classification, and synthesis techniques before moving on to modern multiferroics and rare earth-based perovskites, which might contribute in addressing the knowledge gap in the scientific community.
