AbstractThe article discusses the problem of digitalization of the global and Russian economies, and also the influence of its primary development tendencies on the personnel of an agro-industrial complex. We used (1) abstract-logical, (2) monographic, (3) calculation and construction, (4) comparative analysis, and (5) statistical research methods to analyze and process the collected data. The analysis results show that Russia falls behind the pace of the United States, European and Asian competitors in the studied areas. Thus, the Russian government developed and launched the Digital Economy of the Russian Federation national project (7-year project, from 2019 to 2024, with a budget of 1634.9 bln. RUB) and the Ministry of Agriculture – the Digital Agriculture departmental project (7-year project, from 2019 to 2024, with a budget of 300 bln. RUB). These measures will give a serious impetus to the development of the economy and agriculture in particular. The Digital Agriculture project aims to create a single national digital platform in the agro-industrial complex, leading to complete digitalization of agriculture and benefit both the state and agricultural manufacturers. According to the Russian Federation Ministry of Agriculture, the productivity of agricultural enterprises by 2024, compared to 2018, will increase by two times as a result of the introduction of digital technologies, platform solutions, and digital transformation of agriculture. We conclude that to digitalize the economy, it is crucial to have the appropriate human resources, particularly IT professionals. There is a shortage of IT and agricultural professionals who can work with computer programs and applications in Russia. Therefore, it is necessary to solve personnel issues by appropriately adjusting educational programs for training agricultural professionals before switching to the digitalization of agriculture. Moreover, refresher courses can improve the digital literacy of professionals. The success of digitalization largely depends on the fast and competent resolution of the mentioned issues. We should note that the tasks of the article are of national and strategic importance and a program nature. Therefore, the article is an excellent literary source for obtaining up-to-date information about the digitalization tendencies of the economy and agriculture.KeywordsHuman resources of the agro-industrial complexDigitalization of the economyDigitalization of agricultureProfessionals of the agro-industrial complexEducational environmentStaffing of the agro-industrial complex
