Abstract
The paper explores historical context which influenced the modus operandi of the mythographers of Boethius' work. Furthermore, it focuses on how such literary devices as personification and abstractio converge in Boethius' Consolation of Philosophy and analyses in detail the role Boethius assigned to allegory and symbolic language in spiritual development.
