Abstract Narrative and structural theories study the components of novel, the most prominent of which is the “Novel Character " component, as it is the first thing that occupies the writer's mind at the starting of the novel. The novelist uses some characters to express what is on its mind of imagines to embody the idea, and through the characters of the novel, the reader can understand the events and the course of the narrative work. On the basis of this importance that the character plays in the narrative construction, we chose it hoping that we will answer a number of questions that are summarized in the following: What does the character represent? - What are the types and classifications of the character in the novel? - How did the characters appear to us in the novel "Mahabad, a Homeland of Fog"? What are the psychological, social, external and intellectual dimensions of its formation? We preferred the works of the great novelist Jan Dost because he is one of the most important contemporary Kurdish novelists, who is characterized by the smoothness of ideas, the robustness of the construction and the depth of meanings. His novel "Mahabad, a homeland of fog" is considered one of the novels that deals with the issues of Kurdish society; Therefore, we were keen in this study to reveal part of Jan Dost's vision of the Kurdish personality and its dimensions in the conditions of wars and crises, such as those experienced by the Kurdish society when the Kurdish Republic was established in Mahabad.
