Abstract

The Eyesenck Personality Inventory was employed to assess the personalities of seventy-seven patients who underwent a series of conservative treatments for the temporomandibular joint pain dysfunction syndrome. The patients who failed to respond to all the treatments were married women who recorded abnormally high neuroticism scores and were of a specific socioeconomic group. The study indicates that the Inventory may have application in the treatment of patients suffering from this syndrome.
