Abstract

The twelfth essay in this series profiles John Vickers, author, indexer, editor, and eventually publisher of religious publications. Archivist for the Southampton Methodist District and a member of the Methodist Archives and History committee and the Wesley History Society Executive, Vickers was appointed indexer to Clarendon Press's new, complete edition of The Works of John Wesley. Later he would provide indexes to the Oxford illustrated histories of Britain, Christianity, English literature, medieval Europe, and Ireland.
