Abstract
In the last years, additive manufacturing, as well as the intelligent services provided through the cloud, have evolved quickly, providing the opportunity to develop plenty of smart tools for personal assistance. These tools are useful for different porpuses such as intelligent tutoring, support for daily-live activities of people with disabilities, to increase productivity, among many others. For these reasons, in this paper, we present a robotic assistant that relies on additive manufacturing and an intelligent chatbot that uses the services provided by the IBM® cloud. Our robot is a custom version of the Otto robot and is a multipurpose tool aimed at assisting in different situations. We conducted an experimentation process to determine the robot’s usability as well as its response regarding to speech and image recognition under noisy environments. The results show a good response in terms of speech and image recognition.
