The date August 14, 1976, has come to mark the turning point in my scientific life. On that day, I began my research involving the development of voltage-sensitive dyes, joining Larry Cohen, Brian Salzberg, and Amiram Grinvald at the Marine Biological Laboratory in Woods Hole, Massachusetts. This research has led to my following a path toward ontogenetic opto-electrophysiology for the remainder of my career.
