Abstract
Tangent line method is applied to generate a listening point at a designated distance from a linear loudspeaker array. The array examined in this study consists of 16 loudspeakers, and the length of the array is 0.75m. The designated distance of the listening point is 0.5m. Sound pressure distribution at 1850Hz, which is the middle frequency of speech frequency range from 300 to 3400Hz, is investigated via computer simulation and experiment. The results show that the proposed method can confine the acoustic field near the listening point.
