Abstract
Two cases of anomalous anterior inferior cerebellar arteries arising directly from the internal carotid artery without a connection to the basilar artery are presented. A review of the literature revealed only nine cases of similar anomalous cerebellar vessels. Embryologically these vessels are postulated to be variants of persistent trigeminal arteries. The importance of recognition of these anomalous arteries before surgery or therapeutic embolization is addressed.
