Abstract
(Int J Obstet Anesth. 2023:54:103644) A total of 31.9% of births in the United States occur through cesarean delivery (CD), while a total of 18.6% of births worldwide occur through CD. Following CD, opioids are commonly prescribed for pain management, and just 5 days of opioid use can develop into a chronic use condition. It is unclear how many postpartum opioid prescriptions lead to opioid addiction. This review aimed to analyze and assess previous studies related to long-term opioid use following CD.
