Abstract

Torulopsis glabrata fungemia appeared in a 73-year-old man following multiple surgical procedures and treatment with broad-spectrum antibiotics. Removal of an infected indwelling venous catheter did not result in clearing of the blood stream. A percutaneous needle biopsy of the kidney was performed during the period of fungemia and funguria. There was no evidence of tissue invasion. Daily administration of intravenous amphotericin B for two weeks (total dose, 500 mg.) eliminated the organism.
