Abstract
Summary Peroneus quartus muscle and its variations are well described in the literature. However, the clinical relevance of this muscle is underestimated in persistent lateral ankle pain. The authors report a rare cause of chronic lateral ankle pain which was caused by peroneus quartus. Peroneus quartus muscle should be considered in differential diagnosis of chronic lateral ankle pain.
