Abstract

Peroneal tendon subluxation is a challenging injury for athletes. Peroneal tendon tears can also occur acutely in conjunction with the acute subluxation or dislocation, or they may develop over time due to attritional wear. The goal of treatment is to stabilize the peroneal tendons in the retrofibular groove and prevent future subluxation or damage. For an athlete or otherwise highly active individual, surgery is usually recommended for an acute injury. The authors’ preferred treatment regimen is outlined.
