Abstract

AbstractThe calcaneal tuberosity, due to its superficial location and prominent positioning, is predisposed to traumatic injury and synovial infection. Frequently, injury also involves the superficial digital flexor tendon either directly or through inflammation, swelling, adhesions and proliferative osteitis resulting in increased tension and persistent pain. This case report describes permanent superficial digital flexor tendon luxation to improve surgical access to the calcaneal tuber and alleviate pain associated with tension of the superficial digital flexor tendon following chronic septic calcaneal osteomyelitis and bursitis.
