Abstract
<p>Este artículo propone una nueva interpretación de la evolución de la división municipal en el Estado de México entre 1827 y 1910 a partir de relacionar indicadores de distinta naturaleza. Establece por primera vez cuáles fueron las unidades municipales involucradas en todas las segregaciones y anexiones municipales ocurridas en dicho lapso. Considera la ofensiva de oligarcas criollo-mestizos contra comuneros indígenas, pero también los conflictos en el seno de estos dos actores sociopolíticos.</p><p> </p>
