Abstract

This thesis entitled Petroleum Development in South Sumatra in the year (1945-1950). This research is based on the writer's desire to know in depth and describe the development of petroleum in South Sumatra in 1945 to 1950. This study uses historical methods, namely those through the Heuristic stage, criticism of sources of interpretation, and historiography with approaches to geography, politics, economics, and sociology through literature studies to obtain the truth and present it in written form. As for the problems discussed in this research are how the development in the oil field at the beginning of the independence of the proclamation in 1945, how the former oil labor organization formed which had worked in oil refineries, and how the efforts of oil diplomacy during the revolution period from 1945 to 1950. The actual development process begins with people's efforts to take over energy resources, namely in the form of oil mines and elements of facilities from the hands of the invaders. supported by republican leaders in South Sumatra such as Dr. Ak Gani, Dr. M Isa and others. from the spirit of independence, then the formation of an association organization consisting of ex oil workers namely Lasykar, PPM, Movement of the owl and PEMIRI. which then united by using oil diplomacy efforts in stages so that the Republic of Indonesia could benefit the oil in South Sumatra.
