Abstract

AbstractPeritonitis is the most frequent complication in patients undergoing continuous ambulatory peritoneal dialysis (CAPD). CAPD‐related peritonitis caused by Brucella species has been reported in only three patients, in whom the Thenckhoff catheter was removed. We report two cases of CAPD‐related peritonitis caused by Brucella melitensis. In both patients, peritonitis accompanied systemic brucellosis and was successfully treated with antibiotics (rifampicin plus doxycycline for 6 weeks) without removal of the Tenckhoff catheter.
