Abstract

The prevalence of peripheral metastases reported in the literature ranges from 1% to 2%, but this is mainly seen in case of extensive metastatic disease. The most common solitary metastatic site in malignancy is the thoracic and lumbar spine. In half of the cases, these metastases originate from a primary bronchogenic carcinoma. Only a few cases of solitary metastasis in the tibia of prostate carcinoma have been described. Paget's disease, fractures, and chronic arthritis can mimic the features of prostate cancer, especially in case of solitary lesions. We present 2 patients with extensive metastases from a prostate carcinoma in the lower extremities, a rare localization at initial presentation.
