Abstract

In randomized controlled trials and retrospective series, women have had higher rates of periprocedural stroke and death after carotid endarterectomy and transfemoral carotid artery stenting (TFCAS) compared with men. We sought to compare the outcomes stratified by sex after transcarotid artery revascularization (TCAR) among patients in the Vascular Quality Initiative and to contrast these with the outcomes after TFCAS during the same period.
