Abstract

One phenomena often occurs in clinic that some patients are more susceptible to serious complications than others.from which the concept of high-risk surgical patient is put forward.Why do some patients develop complications and others do not despite being seemingly same in other respects?The status of oxygen delivery/demand balance is likely a key factor for occurence of postoperative complications.This article aims to assess the high-risk patients using non-invasive cardiac output(CO)monitors and brings forward the optimal therapy to maintain tissue oxygen delivery and blood volume at the best state.
