Abstract

Objective To explore the clinical care pathway in the perioperative period of inguinal hernia repair. Methods Clinical care pathway was performed. Medical staff started their work according to daily medical and nursing CP. Self-made Knowledge of Inguinal Hernia Registration Formand Inpatient Care Satisfaction Survey were filled out to record length of hospital stay and costs of hospitalization. The efficacy of treatment and the patient satisfaction were analyzed. Results The group with care pathway was superior to the conventional group in the average length of hospital stay and the costs of medication use and hospitalization. Care satisfaction was higher in group with care pathway than in the conventional group. No obvious complications occurred in both groups. Conclusions The model of clinical care pathway for tension-free hernia repair can reduce length of hospital stay and costs of hospitalization and markedly improve nursing satisfaction.
