Abstract
The experimental and theoretical investigations, performed at the Institute of Physics of the Academy of Sciences of Ukraine, of short-wavelength periodic structures on the surface of liquid-mental electrodes are briefly reviewed. The impurity mechanism of excitation of structures on the surface of a thin metal melt, the phenomenon of cyclicity of explosive emission, and Rayleigh instability in the melting channel are examined.
