Abstract

There are more relationships among the elements than those by group or period. This paper provides an overview of the different patterns, including the diagonal relationship, the (n) group and (n + 10) group similarities, the "knight's move" relationship, the early actinoid relationship, and compounds that imitate elements. By incorporating these relationships, descriptive inorganic chemistry can be taught in a more organized and interesting manner.
