Abstract
Laser Interference Metallurgy is a newly developed method which allows the creation of periodic patterns with a well defined long‐range order on metallic surfaces. This article provides three fundamental aspects to understand the surface structuring process: the formation of complex periodical structures in metallic thin films by using three laser beams with variable intensities; the structuring of bi‐layered metallic films, and the possibility of the formation of periodical intermetallic structures.
