Abstract
AbstractThe aim of this paper is to present the finite element method and its application to quasi‐steady periodic two‐layer tidal flow in estuaries and coastal seas. Formulating the weighted residual equations, using quadratic polynomials for velocity and linear polynomials for water elevation as interpolation functions and employing the periodic Galerkin method, the nonlinear simultaneous equations can be derived. The present method is used for the simulation analysis of the Niigata Port redevelopment planning.
