Abstract

Balanced realizations for periodic systems are defined and their properties analyzed. It is shown that by defining the extended system, which is time invariant, these properties lead to a natural extension of the theory of balanced realizations in the time-invariant case. Some connections with model order reduction and minimal sensitivity realization of systems are made along the way.
