Abstract
To the Editor.— The recent study by Drs Kellogg and Parra1 is clearly important in documenting the prevalence of the "linea vestibularis" in the normal neonate. However, this structure is not previously "undescribed," John McCann and colleagues2 described an "avascular midline area" in the posterior fourchette in 25.6% of prepubertal girls selected for nonabuse. In this study, the possibility that some of these lines were caused by labial adhesions was not reported separately. In a study not published at the time of your article, Berenson and colleagues3 found a midline avascular area in 4% of a younger group of girls.
