Abstract

(N Engl J Med. 2019;381:893–895) Before the Roe v. Wade Supreme Court decision, a significant number of women lost their lives due to injuries from illegal abortion attempts. As a result of 2 conservative Supreme Court justices being appointed, state legislatures are attempting to remove Roe’s safeguards and introduce laws to restrict abortion access in medical settings. These efforts will once again put the lives of many women at risk, especially poor and minority women with limited resources.
