Abstract

In various situations of natural disasters, severe damages to structures were caused in unexpected scales. To avoid damages to socially important structures, breakdown behaviors should be taken into account during the process of structural design. In most previous studies so far, collapse behaviors of structures has been studied by model experiments. However, experimental studies have many restrictions, such as cost and experiment facilities. As an alternative approach, Peridynamics Fracture Mechanics has been recently investigated, and in this study the possibility and applicability of the new mechanics as a numerical analysis method is investigated by adopting Architectural Materials.
