Abstract

Scientific and technical journals are some of the most important formal communication channels used by researchers in contemporary science. Due to the strategic importance of publication in the social context of science, journals have been sistematically focused on in studies, policies and concerns expressed by researchers, editors, librarians, policy makers, science managers and funders. The present paper reports the results of an exploratory research focusing the Brazilian journals dedicated to themes in the area of Communication which are part of the 2001-2003 QUALIS-CAPES list of journals. The purpose of the research is to map the current national titles in the area and determine their main features.
