Abstract

A waste-free technology was developed for the production and use of periclase-carbon concrete articles PUEP-116 from sintered periclase powders for the walls and roofs of electric steel furnace. The articles were made by a production scheme involving pressing, palleting, drying in pallets or without drying, and then delivery to the user. The compressive strength of these articles is 11-18 N/mm/sup 2/; they are practically impermeable to gas, have a high refractoriness under load, and high thermal conductivity and magnetic susceptibility. The use of these articles will increase the life of the walls in 100-ton steel furnaces compared with walls. In the roofs of these furnaces, the perclase-carbon articles had a 25-40% lower wear.
