Abstract

Summary The anatomical structure of the horse-radish peri carp at many stages of development is described in detail for its outer epidermis, mesocarp including vasculature of the fruit, inner epidermis and dehiscence. The presence of simple uniseriate, unicellular and multicellular branched trichomes with blunt tips, crystals and orientation of various tissues are noted. The basal vascular cylinder is complete or trilobed which enters the fruit and anastomose in the middle and becomes narrow with thin branches in the terminal region. Small vessels, short, medium and long size vessels and fibres are reported.
