Abstract
A case of pericardial diverticulum appearing as a routine chest x-ray finding of a left hilar mass in an asymptomatic 35-year-old man is reported. Thoracotomy revealed a fluid-filled pericardial diverticulum communicating with the pericardial cavity through a 2 to 3 mm opening. Since the majority of pericardial cysts and diverticula are located in either cardiophrenic angle, the location at the left hilum in this case is most unusual. The electrocardiogram before operation revealed T wave inversions in leads 2,3, aVf and the precordial leads which became upright after removal of the diverticulum.
