Abstract

To what extent does contemporary performance contribute to the archiving process? The theatrical deconstruction carried out by the experimental Wooster Group underlines the archiving process on stage. The embodiment of temporal strata (past, present, future) stages a multimedia archiving performance of the New York avant-garde. However, the Wooster Group’s intermedial experimentations with digital archives raise questions about the limits of their art.
