Abstract
Abstract Cosmic ray tests were performed by using five drift tubes with a pair of simple field shapers originally developed for the muon detector of the SDC. Spatial resolutions, a multi-track-measurement capability, and multi-pulse rates were measured for the originally proposed non-flammable gases, Ar(88%) + CO2(12%), Ar(90%) + CO2(10%), and “fast gases”, Ar + C2H6 +CF4, with several mixture ratios, for various conditions of hight voltage applied at the anode wire and the field shapers.
