Abstract

The performance of a high-speed ultrasonic sing-around system has been evaluated by comparing it to a standard sing-around system averaging over a period of a few seconds. The high-speed version can measure the sing-around period and therefore the velocity of sound in approximately 10 μs and is found to have an absolute accuracy of ±3 ns confirming earlier estimates.
