Abstract

In this paper, mathematical models of heat exchanger and valve are established according to energy conservation equation and mass conservation equation. MATLAB/Simulink is used as a platform based on the mathematical models to establish simulation model of surface air cooler with bypass valve system including heat exchanger, nonlinear air and water valve. The performance simulation of surface air cooler is hereby carried out under the conditions of variable status of air and water flow rate on the basis of unstable state. As is shown in results while the water flow rate doubles, the outlet temperature of water declined by 25%, and air by less than 50%. Meanwhile with air flow rate less than its half capacity, the outlet temperature of air would raise by 20%.
