Abstract
In continuous wave noise radar, pseudopulse compression is typically accomplished through a simple cross-correlation of received and reference signals. We consider the use of adaptive filtering algorithms in pseudopulse compression for air-to-ground noise radar. We compare the SNR performance of simple cross-correlation, cross-correlation with signal whitening and channel estimation via the LMS algorithm. The LMS algorithm was found to provide performance equivalent to the whitened cross-correlation with the same computational complexity as simple cross-correlation.
