Abstract

The consequence of variation in thicknesses of donor and acceptor layers on the performance parameters of planar heterojunction (PHJ) organic solar cell has been explored in this paper. Our concern is to determine effective thickness of donor layer as well as acceptor layer for ascertaining performance variation in the PHJ organic solar cell. In this work the Poly 3-Hexylthiophene(P3HT):Polycrystalline C61 butyric acid methyl ester(PCBM) has been considered as an active layer because it is one of the promising organic solar cell materials and the most efficient fullerene derivate based donor-acceptor copolymer. The performance parameters are determined using OPV lab and MATLAB simulation varying donor and acceptor layer thicknesses. Eventually it is found that for a fixed ratio of donor and acceptor layer thicknesses, PHJ organic solar cell provides highest efficiency.
