Abstract

Background: Identification of patients at risk of major adverse cardiac and cerebrovascular events (MACCE) prior to major non-cardiac surgery (MNCS) would enable these patients to receive targeted risk management interventions. This would lead to reduced resource burden and health service costs. This study evaluated use of the Revised Cardiac Risk Index (RCRI) score as a screening tool for this purpose.
