Abstract

By combining state-of-the-art solid-state technology with the latest vacuum photocathode technology, DEP has created a new and innovative range of photodetectors including the DEP hybrid photomultiplier tube (HPMT). This tube is also known as Hybrid photodiode (HPD). As a result of a five-year development program with several CERN groups, DEP now has two types of HPMT tubes available with each having its own field of application. New measurements were performed on the first production tubes and are described in this article. As a result of this development program, the HPMT is now also available for many applications outside the scientific field.
