Abstract

Overvoltage is a threat to the security of power transmission lines, it is important to get the actual amplitude and waveform of the lightning overvoltage. This paper proposes a contactless overvoltage transducer for overhead transmission lines overvoltage monitoring. By a certain structure arrangement, the overhead transmission line conductor and the transducer forms a capacitive voltage divider, in this way the voltage of the overhead transmission line can be measured. The stray capacitance is calculated, and the influence factors on sensor accuracy are analyzed. The results of Power Frequency Voltage and Lightning Overvoltage tests indicate that the sensor has good precision and linearity, which meet the requirements for overvoltage on-line monitoring.
