Abstract

In general, solar irradiance reaching the photovoltaic (PV) panel decides the power output. But the dust deposition on the panel decreases the energy conversion efficiency over time. Dust affects several parameters and in this study, the focus is given on the light absorbance during initial stages of dust deposition. It is seen that the dust deposition has deteriorated the irradiance reaching the panel. Particles of various size has hindered different wavelength region of the solar spectrum, which has been understood by simulation. Pronounced effect is seen in Ultra-Violet (UV) range light during early stage of dust deposition. Hindrance in visible region of the light is dominated by larger particles.
