Abstract

This paper analyzes the performance of a communication system operating over Meteor-Burst (MB) channel, in terms of protocols that are used. Four protocols are considered; first, second, broadcasting, and Automatic Repeat reQuest (ARQ) protocols. The message to be transmitted is packetized. The performance measure of the system is; probability of successful message completion, waiting time, and throughput. Closed form expressions for probability of successful completion of a message are derived for first and second protocols. Numerical results based on this analysis are provided, it was found that the most important parameter affecting the performance of Meteor Burst is bit rate.
